It takes incredible skill, collaboration, and innovation-and that's where you come in.Your RoleAs part of the Materials & Processes Laboratory team, you will support engineering activities through investigation, testing, and technical analysis of materials used in landing gear systems.Key responsibilities include:Investigating landing gear components that do not meet design requirementsSupporting raw material and forging supply chainsConducting mechanical, chemical, and metallurgical testingGenerating data and compiling technical reportsSupporting production with manufacturing issue resolutionAssisting with qualification of new processesYou will gain experience in:Materials science, chemistry, and analytical techniquesSupplier engagement and technical issue resolutionMechanical testing and statistical data analysisLaboratory investigation techniquesProcess audits and continuous improvement activitiesTraining & QualificationYou will complete the Materials Science Technologist Degree Apprenticeship with the University of Derby.What You'll BringEssentialGCSEs (Grade 9-5 / A*-C), including Maths, English, and ScienceLevel 3 qualifications (e.g. A-Levels) including Maths and a Science/Engineering subjectStrong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and willingness to learnDesirableInterest in engineering demonstrated through school, hobbies, or projectsUnderstanding of materials science or engineering principlesExperience working independently and in teamsStrong communication and organisational skillsMethodical and structured approach to workTPBN1_UKTJ
