Maintenance Technician | Full Time (37 hours) | PermanentWe're looking for a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician to join our Estates & Facilities team and help maintain a safe, efficient and high-quality environment across our College sites.About the RoleYou will be supporting the safe and effective operation of the College estate, working across multiple sites to carry out planned, reactive, and project maintenance on buildings, facilities, and equipment. As part of a busy Estates team, you'll play a key role in minimising disruption and maintaining high standards, while helping to create a positive and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. You will also ensure all work is delivered in line with health and safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements.What You'll Be DoingUndertaking general maintenance duties across College sites, both independently and as part of a teamCarrying out planned and reactive repairs to a range of building servicesCompleting multi-skilled tasks including carpentry, basic plumbing, and general building maintenanceMaintaining and repairing doors, windows, furniture, and non-technical equipmentSupporting minor installation works within your technical competenceAssisting with water systems maintenance and responding to leaks/blockagesEnsuring building fabric is safe, compliant, and fit for purposeRecording maintenance activities and updating relevant systemsFollowing COSHH, health & safety, and safeguarding procedures at all timesSupporting a professional, compliant, and well-maintained estate environmentWhat We're Looking ForGCSE Maths and English (Grade 9–4 / A–C) or equivalentA recognised trade qualification (e.g. City & Guilds or equivalent)Experience in a hands-on maintenance or facilities roleStrong practical knowledge of general building maintenance and repairMulti-skilled capability (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, building maintenance)Good understanding of health & safety and compliance requirementsAbility to diagnose faults and problem solve effectivelyStrong communication skills and ability to work across teamsAbility to work independently and manage workload effectivelyBasic IT skills for record keeping and reportingDesirable:Experience in a multi-site or large organisationKnowledge of water hygiene / legionellaWorking at Height experience (PASMA/IPAF)Experience within education or public sector environmentsHealth & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH)We encourage early applications, as we may close the vacancy once we receive a sufficient number of strong applications.Working at Bournemouth and Poole CollegeMore than just a job.At Bournemouth & Poole College, we are passionate about turning potential into professionals.
