Teaching Assistant (SEN - Mainstream Primary)Location: Chatham, MedwaySchool: Mainstream Primary SchoolStart Date: September 2026Hours: Part-Time - Mornings OnlyJoin Our TeamWe are looking for a dedicated, resilient, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team in Chatham, Medway from September 2026 . This rewarding role involves supporting two pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within our mainstream primary school while they await specialist SEN school/provision placements.This position requires someone who is firm but supportive , able to build trusting relationships while maintaining clear boundaries and high expectations.The RoleThe successful candidate will:Provide individualised support for two pupils with complex additional needs.Adapt learning activities and classroom routines to meet each pupil's needs.Work closely with the class teacher and SEND team to promote engagement, communication, and independence.Implement effective behaviour management strategies to support positive outcomes.Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.Record progress and contribute to reviews and planning for the pupils.Essential ExperienceApplicants should have experience supporting children with some or all of the following:ADHDAutism Spectrum Condition (ASC)Visual impairmentNon-verbal communication needsThe ideal candidate will be:Confident, energetic, and proactive.Experienced in managing challenging behaviour using positive and consistent strategies.Calm under pressure and able to adapt to changing situations.Patient, resilient, and committed to helping every child succeed.An excellent team player with strong communication skills.Desirable SkillsExperience using or supporting British Sign Language (BSL) is preferred but not essential , as training and support may be available for the right candidate.What We OfferA supportive and collaborative staff team.The opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of children with additional needs.Ongoing professional development and training.A rewarding role within a caring and inclusive school community.If you are passionate about supporting children with complex needs and have the confidence, compassion, and experience to help them thrive, we would love to hear from you.
