Sentara Princess Anne Hospital is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join its growing Spine Program. This hospital-based role is dedicated exclusively to the care of neurosurgical and spine patients at the Sentara Princess Anne campus. The APP will partner closely with neurosurgeons, hospitalists, nursing, case management, utilization management, and multidisciplinary care teams to improve quality, patient outcomes, care coordination, documentation, and operational performance across the inpatient spine continuum.
Primary Responsibilities\n- \n
- Round daily with neurosurgeons on hospitalized spine patients. \n
- Provide inpatient assessment and management of spine patients. \n
- Participate in multidisciplinary medical discipline rounds. \n
- Serve as the clinical liaison between surgeons, hospitalists, nursing, therapy, case management, and ancillary departments. \n
- Enhance communication across the care team to improve coordination and patient experience. \n
- Support continuity of care from admission through discharge. \n
- Identify barriers to discharge and facilitate timely patient progression. \n

- Participate in educational modules to enhance medical documentation knowledge and skills. \n
- Improve documentation quality, specificity, and accuracy. \n
- Assist with discharge summaries and documentation priorities. \n
- Partner with Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) to promote documentation excellence. \n
- \n
- Collaborate with Utilization Management to optimize level of care. \n
- Support appropriate patient status and efficient throughput. \n
- Participate in initiatives that improve length of stay and discharge planning. \n
- \n
- Maintain high performance within the Spine Program. \n
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives. \n
- Support hospital-specific neuroscience and spine initiatives. \n
- Promote patient safety and evidence-based practice. \n

- Dedicated 1.0 FTE supporting the Sentara Princess Anne Hospital Spine Program. \n
- Monday Friday schedule. \n
- No call responsibilities. \n
- No weekend coverage. \n
- No holiday coverage. \n
- Daily inpatient rounding with spine surgeons. \n
- Participation in multidisciplinary rounds. \n
- Support 3D and Neuroscience service line initiatives. \n
- Promote communication, collaboration, documentation excellence, and exceptional patient care. \n
- \n
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant eligible to practice in Virginia. \n
- BLS and ACLS certification. \n
- Experience in neurosurgery, orthopedic spine, hospital medicine, or inpatient care preferred. \n
- Eligible for Sentara credentialing and privileging. \n
