Role: Project Leader/Manager (Pharma/Life Science Design Projects)

Location: Supporting projects on-site in and around the Raleigh-Durham area

Type: Direct Hire/Permanent Placement

Starting Salary: $125,000 + (very flexible/open depending on years of experience, licensure/certifications, etc.)

Overview:

The Project Leader is responsible for providing oversight for design projects. The Project Leader oversees the proposal stage of a project through its successful completion.

Project management responsibilities include ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, fulfilling scope, meeting quality standards, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Project Management: Responsible for Scope, Schedule, and Budget throughout the full lifecycle of the project.
  • Engineering Leadership: Facilitates the resolution of issues by escalating concerns to appropriate subject matter experts while also participating in the problem-solving efforts.
  • Progress Tracking: Tracks the progress of each project against goals, objectives, approved budgets and schedule. Works alongside Project Controller and Scheduler to develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans and status reports that include variances and earned value. Works with subcontractors, as applicable, to assure adherence to schedule and budget.
  • Client Relations and Stakeholder Management: Acts as the primary contact for key stakeholders on assigned projects. Engages with clients throughout all project phases. Nurtures former and existing client contacts in expectation of generating new leads.
  • Proposal Development: Applies client relation skills to engage clients and supports the proposal stage of business development with new and existing clients. Key contact for understanding client needs and design capabilities of staff.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Project Management experience overseeing design projects
  • Preferably coming from an engineering consulting or EPC background
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with ability to obtain PE within a year
  • Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences industry experience preferred
  • GMP/FDA-regulated facility experience preferred
