Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care tailored to the specific needs of the department, adhering to the standards of practice relevant to the state and specialty. Working collaboratively with medical professionals and other members of the healthcare team, the RN provides personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care utilizing established nursing frameworks such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.”

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advocating for patients, families, and caregivers while embodying the organization’s vision, mission, and values to enhance patient experiences and clinical outcomes.
  • Executing procedures, monitoring, and other tasks as directed by medical providers.
  • Documenting care administration in the patient medical record promptly and thoroughly.
  • Educating patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, and follow-up care.
  • Translating complex medical terminology into understandable language for patients and families.
  • Providing guidance on non-medical follow-up measures, including healthy lifestyle choices and disease prevention.
  • Preparing patients and families for effective self-management of health.
  • Implementing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives to surpass quality measures and enhance patient care.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, assess, customize, and deliver a holistic treatment plan that fosters recovery.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
  • Registered Nurse with an Associate Degree or Diploma.
  • No travel is required.
  • No prior experience is necessary.

This position is based in a full-service, 150+ bed acute care hospital and emergency room located in Overland Park and Leawood, Kansas.
