Our organization is on the lookout for a committed Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Physician to enhance our Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) team. The MFM team specializes in caring for pregnant individuals classified as moderate to high risk, offering support from pre-conception through the postpartum phase. Our physicians collaborate with colleagues across the organization, including advanced practice providers like Certified Nurse Midwives and Nurse Practitioners, as well as generalist OB/GYN and Family Medicine practitioners.

Our organization serves the underserved communities in the city and county of Denver, primarily focusing on patients who are government-insured and face medical and social complexities. With around 4,000 births each year, our Department provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic services. Approximately half of these patients receive care in our OBGYN clinics, staffed by OB/GYN physicians and advanced practice providers, while the remainder are treated in community clinics by Family Medicine providers.

As a teaching affiliate of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, we are deeply invested in training the next generation of healthcare professionals. Faculty members in the OB/GYN Department actively engage in educating residents and medical students, contributing both in clinical settings and through didactic instruction. Additionally, our physicians hold academic appointments with the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

Key Responsibilities

The MFM Physician plays a pivotal role in guiding and coordinating care for moderate and high-risk patients while also participating in broader obstetric care at our organization. Key responsibilities include:

• Attending and supervising High-Risk and Diabetic OB Clinics
• Interpreting obstetric ultrasounds and consulting on abnormal findings
• Collaborating with genetic counselors
• Performing specialized obstetric procedures, including amniocentesis and cervical cerclage
• Participating in multidisciplinary care conferences for complex cases
• Providing inpatient consultations for critically ill and high-risk OB patients
• Offering expert consultations for outpatient high-risk patients

Essential Functions

• Collecting, recording, and maintaining patient information, such as medical histories and examination results (20%)
• Caring for and treating patients with high-risk pregnancies (60%)
• Performing specialized obstetrical procedures (5%)
• Supporting education and research initiatives (10%)

Qualifications

Education:

• Doctorate Degree from an accredited medical school (Required)
• ABOG certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology (Required)
• ABOG board-eligible or certified in Maternal Fetal Medicine (Required)

Work Experience:

• 1-3 years of directly related experience

Licenses:

• OBGYN-Obstetrics and Gynecology Certification - AAFP (Required)
• MD-Physician - State Medical Board (Required)
• BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA (Required)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong understanding of professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
• Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
• Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while ensuring quality care
• Capable of receiving detailed information through oral communication and expressing ideas verbally
• Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
• Able to interact effectively with individuals from diverse educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds
