Large Acute NHS Trust | London (Hybrid Working) | £416 per day Umbrella
\nVenn Group is supporting a large acute NHS Trust in London with the recruitment of an experienced Head of Payroll Services on an interim basis.
\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a senior payroll professional with substantial public sector experience to lead a high-performing payroll function responsible for delivering an accurate, compliant and customer-focused service across a large and complex organisation. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership whilst ensuring the effective day-to-day delivery of payroll, pensions and associated services.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Lead the overall management, performance and strategic development of the Payroll Services function. \n
- Ensure the delivery of an accurate, timely and compliant payroll service for a large workforce. \n
- Oversee all statutory returns, pension submissions and payroll compliance requirements, ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and deadlines. \n
- Manage departmental budgets, business planning and service improvement initiatives. \n
- Develop and implement policies, procedures and system enhancements to improve operational efficiency. \n
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders across Finance, HR and the wider organisation. \n
- Lead, motivate and develop a large payroll team, driving high standards of service delivery and performance. \n

- Significant payroll management experience gained within a large public sector organisation, ideally within the NHS. \n
- Proven experience leading a sizeable payroll service and managing large teams. \n
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory reporting requirements and pension administration. \n
- Experience of driving service improvements and managing complex payroll operations. \n
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills. \n
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. \n
- Experience using large-scale payroll systems, with NHS ESR experience highly desirable. \n
