The Opportunity

Reed Finance are delighted to be partnering with a growing and ambitious organisation in Edinburgh to recruit an experienced Finance Manager.

\n

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional looking to take ownership of a broad finance function within a dynamic business environment. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, driving process improvements, strengthening financial controls, and supporting the organisation's continued growth.

\n

The successful candidate will combine strong technical accounting skills with a proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to work effectively with both finance and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

\n

Financial Reporting & Business Partnering

\n
    \n
  • Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • \n
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, board reports and supporting commentary.
  • \n
  • Analyse financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
  • \n
  • Develop budgets, forecasts and financial models to support strategic planning.
  • \n
  • Maintain robust balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.
  • \n
  • Support year-end reporting, statutory accounts preparation and audit requirements.
  • \n
  • Provide financial insights and ad hoc reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • \n
  • Partner with operational teams to support effective decision-making.
  • \n

Operational Finance & Cash Management

  • Manage daily cashflow monitoring and forecasting.
  • \n
  • Oversee sales ledger, purchase ledger and financial journals.
  • \n
  • Review customer accounts and support decisions relating to outstanding debt.
  • \n
  • Ensure high-volume invoicing and customer billing processes operate efficiently.
  • \n
  • Manage supplier payments, expenses and weekly payment runs.
  • \n
  • Support effective credit control processes and cash collection activities.
  • \n

Process Improvement & Systems

    \n
  • Review and enhance finance processes, procedures and controls.
  • \n
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and automation.
  • \n
  • Support the ongoing development and optimisation of finance systems.
  • \n
  • Drive initiatives to support increasing transaction volumes and business growth.
  • \n
\n

Tax & Compliance

\n
    \n
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
  • \n
  • Provide guidance on VAT treatment and compliance matters.
  • \n
  • Work alongside external advisors on Corporation Tax requirements.
  • \n
  • Liaise with HMRC and other regulatory bodies as required.
  • \n
\n

Team Leadership

  • Manage, mentor and develop a small finance team.
  • \n
  • Ensure work is completed accurately and within required deadlines.
  • \n
  • Support ongoing training and professional development.
  • \n
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing finance function.
  • \n
\n

About You

\n

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

\n
    \n
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CA, ACA or equivalent).
  • \n
  • Previous experience in a Finance Manager or Senior Management Accountant position.
  • \n
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of VAT, payroll and financial compliance requirements.
  • \n
  • Strong Excel and financial systems experience.
  • \n
