Transport ManagerWolverhamptonSalary: Up to £40,000 per annumThe OpportunityAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Manager to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Wolverhampton. This is a hands-on management role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring legal compliance, maintaining high operational standards and leading a small transport team.This position would suit a proactive transport professional with strong leadership skills, excellent knowledge of transport legislation and a commitment to delivering an efficient and compliant operation.Key Responsibilities\n

- Manage the daily operation of the transport department. \n
- Lead, motivate and support the transport team to ensure excellent performance. \n
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transport legislation and industry regulations. \n
- Monitor and manage Drivers' Working Time Regulations and ensure records remain fully compliant. \n
- Ensure vehicle inspections, maintenance schedules and defect reporting are completed and kept up to date. \n
- Maintain accurate transport documentation and compliance records. \n
- Work closely with warehouse and production teams to ensure deliveries are planned and completed efficiently. \n
- Monitor fleet utilisation and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency. \n
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the transport function. \n
- Promote a strong health and safety culture throughout the department. \n
- \n
- Previous experience managing a transport team within a manufacturing, logistics or distribution environment. \n
- Strong knowledge of Drivers' Working Time Regulations and transport compliance. \n
- Experience ensuring vehicle inspections, maintenance records and compliance documentation are maintained. \n
- Excellent organisational and planning skills. \n
- Strong leadership and people management experience. \n
- Good communication skills with the ability to build relationships across departments. \n
- A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving abilities. \n
- Competent IT skills and experience using transport or fleet management systems \n
- \n
- Forklift Truck (FLT) training or certification would be advantageous, although this is not essential. \n
