This is a hands-on management role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring legal compliance, maintaining high operational standards and leading a small transport team.This position would suit a proactive transport professional with strong leadership skills, excellent knowledge of transport legislation and a commitment to delivering an efficient and compliant operation.Key Responsibilities\n

• Manage the daily operation of the transport department.
\n
• Lead, motivate and support the transport team to ensure excellent performance.
\n
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transport legislation and industry regulations.
\n
• Monitor and manage Drivers' Working Time Regulations and ensure records remain fully compliant.
\n
• Ensure vehicle inspections, maintenance schedules and defect reporting are completed and kept up to date.
\n
• Maintain accurate transport documentation and compliance records.
\n
• Work closely with warehouse and production teams to ensure deliveries are planned and completed efficiently.
\n
• Monitor fleet utilisation and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
\n
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the transport function.
\n
• Promote a strong health and safety culture throughout the department.
\n

To be successful in this role you will have:\n

\n
• Previous experience managing a transport team within a manufacturing, logistics or distribution environment.
\n
• Strong knowledge of Drivers' Working Time Regulations and transport compliance.
\n
• Experience ensuring vehicle inspections, maintenance records and compliance documentation are maintained.
\n
• Excellent organisational and planning skills.
\n
• Strong leadership and people management experience.
\n
• Good communication skills with the ability to build relationships across departments.
\n
• A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving abilities.
\n
• Competent IT skills and experience using transport or fleet management systems
\n

Desirable\n

\n
• Forklift Truck (FLT) training or certification would be advantageous, although this is not essential.
\n
