Technical Support Officer (Building Control)
\nLocation: Maldon, Essex
\nJob Type: Full-time, Temporary (Initial 2-Month Contract with Potential Extension)
\nMarket 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Technical Support Officer (Building Control) on behalf of our client based in Maldon. This is an excellent opportunity to join an award-winning Housing Service, providing essential administrative and customer support to the Building Control team.
\nThis role is office-based for 2 days per week, with the remainder worked flexibly where appropriate.
\nMain Purpose of the Role
\nAs the first point of contact for Building Control enquiries, you will provide professional administrative and technical support to customers and surveyors, ensuring Building Regulation applications are processed accurately and efficiently. You will play a key role in delivering an excellent customer experience while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and internal procedures.
\nRoles & Responsibilities

- Act as the first point of contact for Building Control enquiries via telephone, email and face-to-face. \n
- Process Building Regulation applications accurately and efficiently. \n
- Maintain and update customer records across internal systems. \n
- Support Building Control Surveyors with administrative and technical tasks. \n
- Respond to customer enquiries and resolve non-complex issues professionally. \n
- Escalate more complex queries to the appropriate Surveyor or Building Control Manager. \n
- Ensure all information is processed in accordance with Data Protection legislation. \n
- Assist with the continuous improvement of processes and customer service delivery. \n
- Support knowledge sharing across the wider team. \n
- Contribute to maintaining efficient workflows and service standards. \n
Additional Responsibilities

- Monitor and manage customer enquiries through to resolution. \n
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information. \n
- Assist with reporting and information requests. \n
- Promote customer self-service where appropriate. \n
- Ensure accurate record keeping and document management. \n
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an efficient Building Control service. \n
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
\n- \n
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) or relevant experience. \n
- Previous experience within a customer service or administrative environment. \n
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail. \n
- Ability to manage multiple enquiries and prioritise workload effectively. \n
- Confident using Microsoft Office and able to learn new IT systems quickly. \n
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. \n
- Professional, customer-focused approach with strong problem-solving abilities. \n
- Experience working within Building Control and planning would be advantageous but is not essential. \n
- Understanding of Building Control processes or relevant legislation would be beneficial. \n
Working Pattern & Benefits

- Hours: 37 hours per week \n
- Contract: Temporary (initial 2-month contract with potential extension) \n
- Hybrid Working: Office-based 2 days per week \n
- Salary: £18.00 per hour PAYE or £23.05 per hour Umbrella \n
