We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Trainee Litigation Solicitor to join our growing legal team in Newport. This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified legal professional or trainee nearing qualification to gain hands-on experience across a broad range of contentious matters while working alongside experienced solicitors.

Day-to-day of the role:

    \n
  • Assist solicitors with the management of civil litigation matters from inception through to resolution.
  • \n
  • Draft legal documents, correspondence, witness statements, court applications, and pleadings.
  • \n
  • Conduct legal research and prepare case summaries.
  • \n
  • Liaise with clients, counsel, courts, experts, and other third parties.
  • \n
  • Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines.
  • \n
  • Attend client meetings, court hearings, mediations, and conferences where appropriate.
  • \n
  • Support dispute resolution processes, including negotiation and settlement discussions.
  • \n
  • Assist with case preparation for trial.
  • \n
  • Ensure compliance with SRA regulations, firm policies, and professional standards.
  • \n

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Essential:\n
      \n
    • Law degree (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification.
    • \n
    • Completion of the LPC, SQE, or currently undertaking the relevant qualification route.
    • \n
    • Strong interest in litigation and dispute resolution.
    • \n
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • \n
    • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
    • \n
    • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
    • \n
    • Professional and client-focused approach.
    • \n
    • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
    • \n
  • \n
  • Desirable:\n
      \n
    • Previous experience within a litigation department (paralegal, legal assistant, or placement experience).
    • \n
    • Experience dealing with civil litigation matters.
    • \n
    • Knowledge of court procedures and case management systems.
    • \n
    • Full UK driving licence.
    • \n
