Import Manager

Right Now Group are proud to be representing a well-established international freight forwarding business in their search for an experienced Import Manager to join their Heathrow operation.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a proven freight forwarding professional to take ownership of a busy import department, leading a team while ensuring exceptional customer service, operational efficiency and customs compliance.

Import Manager - Responsibilities

As the Import Manager, you will be responsible for:

\n
• Leading, coaching and developing the Import Operations team.
\n
• Managing day-to-day import operations across Air Freight, Customs and multimodal movements.
\n
• Ensuring departmental KPIs, service levels and productivity targets are achieved.
\n
• Acting as the senior escalation point for operational, customs and customer service matters.
\n
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, airlines, overseas agents and HMRC.
\n
• Supporting customer implementations and attending customer review meetings.
\n
• Managing departmental budgets, costs and overall financial performance.
\n
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
\n
• Recruiting, developing and retaining a high-performing operations team.
\n

Import Manager - Requirements

To be successful in this role you will ideally have:

\n
• 7-10 years' experience within Freight Forwarding, Customs or Import Operations.
\n
• A minimum of 5 years' experience managing operational teams within a freight forwarding environment.
\n
• Strong knowledge of Air Freight Imports, Customs Brokerage and multimodal freight movements.
\n
• A solid understanding of HMRC regulations and customs compliance.
\n
• Experience managing KPIs, SLAs, productivity and operational performance.
\n
• Commercial awareness, including budget management and cost control.
\n
• Strong leadership, coaching and people management skills.
\n
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
\n
• A proactive approach with a passion for continuous improvement.
\n

Import Manager - Desirable Experience

It would also be advantageous if you have experience with:

• Air Freight Import Operations
\n
• Customs Brokerage
\n
• Customer Business Reviews
\n
• Process Improvement Projects
\n
• Team Development & Succession Planning
\n
• Working closely with commercial and sales teams
\n

Salary & Benefits

As the successful Import Manager, you will receive:

• Up to £65,000 Basic Salary
\n
• Car Allowance
\n
• Monday to Friday Working Hours (09:00 - 17:30)
\n
• 26 Days Annual Leave plus Bank Holidays
