About the clientMorgan Law is seeking an Interim Principal Accountant - Children Services for a local authority in London.Accountabilities

\n
• Preparation of the annual budget for the service area, including the development of complex staffing budgets following service reorganisation.
\n
• Preparation of monthly budget monitoring reports, including detailed variance analysis, identification of cost pressures, and provision of clear financial commentary.
\n
• Responding to external audit queries and providing additional financial information and supporting documentation as required.
\n
• Providing high-level financial advice, guidance, and support to the Service Director and Senior Managers.
\n
• Maintaining and updating the corporate grants register and financial training manual, as well as delivering financial training and guidance to Budget Managers.
\n

Candidate Requirements

\n
• CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant, with relevant post-qualification experience in finance and accounting
\n
• High level of attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders
\n
• Demonstrable experience in Childrens Social Care within a local authority environment
\n
• Strong strategic Finance Business Partnering experience gained within a local authority setting
\n
• Available to start immediately
