Senior Accountant - Housing Association/Provider

(6-Month Fixed Term Contract)

Location: Salford (Hybrid)Salary: Circa £50,000 - £60,000 pro rataContract: 6-Month Fixed Term ContractStart Date: Immediate Start Required

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Management Accountant to join a well-established business in Salford on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance professional who can quickly add value in a fast-paced environment.

\n

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant, or a Qualified by Experience (QBE) finance professional with a strong track record in a similar role. Applicants must have relevant UK accounting experience, be immediately available, and hold full right to work in the UK.

\n

Previous experience in a Housing Association/Provider in the UK is essential

Key Responsibilities

  • Support statutory accounts preparation and play a key role in the external audit process.
  • \n
  • Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including detailed variance analysis and forecasting.
  • \n
  • Develop and manage service charge budgets for existing properties and new developments.
  • \n
  • Review actual costs against budgeted costs across all service chargeable units and investigate variances.
  • \n
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements relating to both variable and fixed service charge properties.
  • \n
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes, delivering robust and realistic financial plans.
  • \n
  • Partner with budget holders and senior management teams to review performance and facilitate informed decision-making.
  • \n
  • Provide financial analysis and modelling for business cases, ensuring assumptions are robust and commercially sound.
  • \n
  • Promote compliance with financial regulations, policies and procedures.
  • \n
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial processes, reporting and business partnering activities.
  • \n
  • Support the preparation and submission of regulatory returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • \n
  • Deputise for the Finance Lead when required and contribute to senior-level reporting.
  • \n
  • Support, mentor and develop colleagues, helping to create a collaborative and high-performing team culture.

About You

\n

To be considered, you will have:

\n
    \n
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, or be Qualified by Experience (QBE).
  • \n
  • Experience in a similar role in a Housing Association/Provider
  • \n
  • Proven experience across the full remit of responsibilities outlined above.
  • \n
  • Strong UK management accounting and financial reporting experience.
  • \n
  • Experience supporting audits, budgeting, forecasting and business partnering.
  • \n
  • Excellent analytical and stakeholder management skills.
  • \n
  • The ability to hit the ground running with minimal supervision.
  • \n
  • Full right to work in the UK.
  • \n
  • Immediate availability or very short notice period.
  • \n
