Litigation Solicitor

Location: Uckfield, East SussexContract: Full-time, PermanentWorking Pattern: Office-based

A well-established and respected legal practice in East Sussex is seeking an experienced Solicitor or CILEx Lawyer to take on a Team Lead role within its Landlord and Tenant Litigation Department.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident litigation lawyer who is ready to step into (or further develop) a leadership position within a fast-paced, client-focused environment. You will play a central role in managing people, processes, and complex litigation work, while helping to drive the continued growth and efficiency of the department.

As Team Lead, you will oversee a busy litigation department handling a broad range of landlord and tenant matters, including standard and accelerated possession claims and defended proceedings.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and supervising fee earners and paralegals
\n
• Allocating workloads and monitoring performance
\n
• Developing and implementing process plans from claim inception through to eviction
\n
• Conducting 1-to-1 reviews and managing annual leave schedules
\n
• Handling complaints and reporting to compliance officers
\n
• Liaising with clients, courts, counsel, and third parties
\n
• Reviewing and improving departmental procedures and time-recording systems
\n
• Attending legal update conferences (virtual and in-person)
\n

Alongside your managerial duties, you will also:

• Undertake fee-earning work on defended and complex matters
\n
• Draft legal documentation and comply with court directions
\n
• Issue possession claims via online systems and manual applications
\n
• Prepare instructions for counsel and advocates
\n
• Produce possession notices and maintain case management records
\n

This role would suit a motivated and organised litigation lawyer who enjoys responsibility and leadership.

You will ideally have:

\n
• Qualification as a Solicitor (2+ years’ PQE) or CILEx Lawyer
\n
• Managerial experience, or readiness to step into a leadership role
\n
• Strong knowledge of landlord and tenant litigation (training available if required)
\n
• Solid understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules
\n
• Excellent IT and case management skills
\n
• Confidence dealing with clients, courts, and third parties
\n
• The ability to prioritise effectively and work under pressure
\n
• High attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality
\n
• A proactive, flexible, and solutions-focused approach
\n

• Office-based role in Uckfield, East Sussex
\n
• Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm (1-hour lunch)
\n
