Brake Press / Roller Operator
\nLocation: Dorking
\nJob Type: Permanent, Full Time
\nSalary: Up to £15.09 per hour plus 20% shift allowance, depending on experience and skills.
\nAbout the Role
\nOur client is seeking an experienced Brake Press / Roller Operator to join their established manufacturing team in Dorking. This is a fantastic opportunity to secure a permanent position within a successful engineering business, working with modern CNC equipment in a clean, safety-focused production environment.
\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating CNC brake presses and powered rollers to manufacture high-quality stainless steel and mild steel components, ensuring production targets and quality standards are consistently achieved.
\nWorking Hours
\nThis is a 40-hour per week position working a rotating double-day shift pattern:
\n- \n
- Week 1 (Early Shift): Monday to Friday, 5:45am – 1:45pm \n
- Week 2 (Late Shift): Monday to Friday, 2:15pm – 10:15pm \n
A paid 30-minute break is included each day.
\nKey Responsibilities
\n- \n
- Set up and operate CNC brake presses to manufacture components to specification. \n
- Set up and operate CNC plate rollers. \n
- Interpret engineering drawings and programme machinery accordingly. \n
- Programme Bystronic laser machines when required. \n
- Carry out self-inspection of completed parts to ensure they meet drawing and quality requirements. \n
- Perform daily safety and machine checks before operation. \n
- Work efficiently to meet production schedules and quality standards. \n
- Report any quality, production or equipment issues to the Team Leader or Manager. \n
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and follow all health and safety procedures. \n
- Work collaboratively within the manufacturing team to support production objectives. \n
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role. \n
About You
\nThe ideal candidate will have:
\n- \n
- Previous experience operating CNC brake presses. \n
- Experience operating CNC plate rollers (desirable). \n
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. \n
- Experience programming CNC machinery, including Bystronic equipment, is advantageous. \n
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. \n
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work to production deadlines. \n
- A proactive approach to health and safety. \n
- A positive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. \n
