Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with a growing engineering and services business based in Chesterfield as we look to support them with the hire of an Accountant for their team. This is a newly created role which will help support the Financial Controller in the delivery of accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance, taxation management, payroll oversight, and commercial financial support across the business.
\nThis is a key position within the Finance Team, responsible for ensuring robust financial controls, maintaining compliance with all relevant legislation, and providing high-quality financial information to support business decision-making. The Accountant role will also work very closely with the senior management team, operational teams, and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include: -
\n- \n
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cashflow reporting \n
- Produce accurate financial reports and analysis for senior management and directors \n
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any variances \n
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities \n
- Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement \n
- Assist in the preparation of year-end statutory accounts and external audits \n
- Manage and prepare VAT returns \n
- Support Corporation Tax processes \n
- Ensure compliance with PAYE, National Insurance, P11D reporting, and other statutory obligations \n
- Oversee payroll preparation and review payroll reconciliations and HMRC submissions \n
- Maintain and strengthen financial controls and governance procedures \n
- Ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with company policies and statutory requirements. \n
- Support continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, and reporting mechanisms. \n
In time, the role will grow into being more involved in more commercial and operational aspects including: -

- Provide financial guidance and support to operational, commercial, and project teams \n
- Assist with project cost reporting, procurement analysis, and commercial decision-making \n
- Build effective working relationships across the business to support operational performance and profitability \n
- Contribute to strategic initiatives, business improvement projects, and future growth plans \n
Essential Qualifications & Experience
\n- \n
- ACCA, ACA, or CIMA Qualified \n
- Minimum five years' experience in a finance or accounting role \n
- Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations, and audit requirements \n
- Extensive experience preparing management accounts and financial reports \n
- Strong knowledge of UK taxation \n
- Experience overseeing payroll processes (Ideal) \n
- Strong Excel skills and experience using finance systems \n
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills \n
- Ability to communicate complex financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders. \n
