You will lead a design team, ensuring effective handover from simulation to design and technical leadership of continuous improvement initiatives for non-conformance.What will you be doing? \n

\n
• Lead and line manage the team, coordinating workloads, resolving issues, and ensuring delivery against timescales, KPIs, and customer requirements.
\n
• Develop team capability through performance management and targeted support to maintain high standards.
\n
• Lead complex, high-value projects, delivering innovative, technically advanced solutions and providing expert guidance.
\n
• Operate with a high degree of autonomy, making informed decisions within organisational and client frameworks.
\n
• Drive quality in simulation deliverables and lead continuous improvement initiatives within the delivery stream.
\n
• Manage non-conformance, implementing corrective actions and process improvements.
\n
• Contribute to engineering strategy, best practices, and process development to enhance operational performance.
\n
• Define and capture design requirements, ensuring clarity and alignment throughout delivery.
\n
• Lead internal and external design reviews, securing client acceptance of designs.
\n
• Provide expert technical support in mechanical engineering across projects.
\n

A couple of things you should know:\n

\n
• Proficient in the design of transmission systems, gears, and gearboxes
\n
• Experienced in producing mechanical specifications, scopes of work, calculations, drawings, and schedules.
\n
• Analyse and resolve complex design issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
\n
• Iterate and refine designs through testing and analysis to ensure compliance with specifications.
\n
• Manage and track design changes to existing products.
\n
• Prepare technical reports and present progress to project teams and clients.
\n
• Working knowledge of key design tools, including Solid Edge, Siemens NX, and AutoCAD.
\n
• Confident in chairing design review meetings.
\n

During an interview, you may be asked about:\n

• Your knowledge of quality management systems and industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001)
\n
• Your experience in the heavy engineering industry, power transmission systems, gears and gearboxes
\n
