Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Employers’ Liability and Public Liability (EL/PL) Casualty Solicitor to join our clients growing insurance practice. The role involves managing a varied and technically challenging defendant caseload.

\n

This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who wants to play a meaningful role in a growing and ambitious firm.

\n

Key Responsibilities:

\n
    \n
  • Managing a full caseload of defendant EL/PL personal injury claims, including litigated matters
  • \n
  • Advising insurers and insured clients on liability, quantum, and coverage issues
  • \n
  • Drafting pleadings, witness statements, and schedules; managing disclosure and expert evidence
  • \n
  • Conducting negotiations and settlement discussions, including Part 36 offers and mediations
  • \n
  • Instructing and liaising with counsel and experts where appropriate
  • \n
  • Providing clear, commercial, and pragmatic advice to insurer and corporate clients
  • \n
  • Ensuring compliance with CPR, pre-action protocols, and client service level agreements (SLAs)
  • \n
  • Supporting junior team members where required and contributing to team development
  • \n
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • \n

Candidate Requirements

Essential

\n
    \n
  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales
  • \n
  • Strong experience in EL/PL casualty claims, (preferably gained within a defendant insurance environment)
  • \n
  • Confident managing litigated matters with supervision
  • \n
  • Sound understanding of liability, quantum, and procedural issues
  • \n
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • \n
  • Commercial and pragmatic approach
  • \n
  • \n

  • Experience advising on coverage issues alongside liability disputes
  • \n
  • Experience acting for insurers, TPAs, or large corporate insureds
