Childcare Paralegal

LAW Absolute are seeking an experienced Childcare Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join a busy and supportive Local Authority legal team on a 6-month locum basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a strong background in public childcare law who can hit the ground running and support the team with a varied caseload.

Essential Requirements:

• Previous childcare legal experience within a Local Authority.
\n
• Experience supporting lawyers on care proceedings and related child protection matters.
\n
• Available to work 5 days per week (36 hours per week).
\n
• Able to attend the office at least one day per week (day can be chosen to suit the successful candidate).
\n
• Available to start ASAP in August 2026.
\n

The Role:

\n
• Assisting solicitors with childcare and safeguarding matters.
\n
• Preparing legal documentation and court bundles.
\n
• Liaising with social workers, counsel, courts and external agencies.
\n
• Managing case files and supporting care proceedings from start to finish.
\n
• General paralegal and legal administrative support within the childcare team.
\n

Please note: Candidates must have previous childcare experience gained within a Local Authority legal team and be able to attend the office weekly. Applications from candidates who cannot meet these requirements will not be considered.
