The following duties outline the expectations for this position, though they are not exhaustive. Percentages are guidelines and may vary based on the needs of the clinic as determined by the Hospital Director.
Veterinary Duties (80-90%)- Perform responsibilities outlined in the Associate Veterinarian job description.
- Meet specific production goals set during the annual planning process.
- Maintain veterinary excellence by attending annual continuing education, pursuing continuous improvement, and leading innovation within the veterinary team.
- Consistently exemplify medical excellence, setting the standard for high-quality medicine, client service, education, and efficiency.
- Foster strong relationships with all veterinarians to enhance engagement, retention, skill development, and leadership modeling.
- Oversee the veterinary team, including regular performance discussions, reviews, hiring, and disciplinary actions.
- Conduct regular coaching sessions with the veterinary team to support their ongoing development, including production reports and performance reviews.
- Assist the Practice Manager in creating doctor schedules that meet client needs for convenience and availability.
- Participate in the interview process for associate veterinarians and other staff as needed.
- Attend annual conferences and engage in networking events as appropriate.
- Participate in hospital staff and leadership meetings as necessary.
- Hold monthly meetings with hospital doctors to educate and lead the team in areas such as product selection and laboratory strategy.
- Promote a culture of teamwork and empowerment among all team members, recognizing individual strengths and motivations.
- Encourage a culture of recruitment and mentorship, overseeing internship and mentorship programs to ensure positive experiences for students and new graduates.
- Act as an ambassador for the hospital through community engagement, including schools and local events.
- Collaborate with the Practice Manager to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and DEA regulations.
- Support the Practice Manager in implementing MVP initiatives at the hospital level.
