Assistant Program Director - Family Medicine Residency

Our organization is in search of a Board Certified/Board Eligible Family Medicine physician to take on the role of Assistant Program Director for our well-established Family Medicine Residency Program located in Waterloo, Iowa. This esteemed program has been dedicated to training family physicians for over 44 years and provides a fulfilling combination of teaching, clinical practice, and leadership without the pressure of RVUs.

Opportunity Highlights
  • Mentor and educate residents in both inpatient and outpatient environments.
  • Supervise resident education and assess their performance.
  • Optional involvement in OB.
  • Participate in office call at a ratio of 1:4 with nurse triage support.
  • No hospital call responsibilities.
  • Lead 1-2 quality improvement initiatives each year.
  • Deliver 10-12 didactic lectures annually.
  • Act as an advisor to approximately 5 resident physicians.
Typical Weekly Schedule (Half Days)
  • 4 days dedicated to patient care.
  • 2-3 days staffing the resident clinic.
  • 1 day for procedure clinic.
  • 2 days for administrative tasks (1 of which is protected time).
  • 1 day for conferences.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary-based compensation structure (no RVUs involved).
  • Starting salary of $260,000 (or based on experience).
  • Total bonus package of $150,000:
    • $100,000 commencement bonus.
    • $50,000 retention bonus (after 3 years).
  • Relocation assistance of up to $15,000.
  • Employer-covered malpractice insurance with tail coverage.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance with shared premiums.
  • Employer-funded short-term disability coverage.
  • Retirement plans including 403(b) & 457(b).
  • $6,000 for Continuing Medical Education (CME).
