Chief of Anesthesiology Position

Our organization is in search of a fellowship-trained, board-certified Anesthesiologist to fill a full-time Chief of Anesthesiology role at a local hospital. This leadership position involves managing the anesthesia department, overseeing clinical operations, staffing, and implementing quality initiatives.

Position Highlights:
  • Lead a collaborative team of anesthesiologists and CRNAs.
  • Supervise anesthesia services in the operating room, obstetrics, and endoscopy.
  • Promote quality enhancement, innovation, and patient safety.
  • Collaborate with surgical, nursing, and administrative leaders.
  • Establish protocols and mentor clinical staff.
Qualifications:
  • Board-certified Anesthesiologist with fellowship training.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing anesthesia teams.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in clinical operations, quality improvement, and strategic planning.
  • Eligibility for a New York State medical license and DEA registration.
Compensation Structure:

Base salary is offered in two tracks based on call requirements and a leadership stipend:

Track 1:
  • Base Salary: $575,217 with a $91,520 leadership stipend.
  • Onsite shifts: 44 hours/week for 44 weeks, totaling 1,936 hours annually.
  • First call shifts per year:
    • 1 in 8 weekday shifts - 12 hours each.
    • 1 in 8 weekend day shifts - 24 hours each.
    • 1 in 6 holidays - 12 hours each.
Track 2:
  • Base Salary: $600,000 with a $91,520 leadership stipend.
  • Onsite shifts: 44 hours/week for 44 weeks, totaling 1,936 hours annually.
  • First call shifts per year:
    • 1 in 5 weekday shifts - 12 hours each.
    • 1 in 5 weekend day shifts - 24 hours each.
    • 1 in 6 holidays - 12 hours each.
Additional Compensation:
  • Starting & Retention Bonus: $100,000 (with a 2-year clawback).
  • Chief Stipend: $91,520 annually for 416 hours of administrative leadership.
  • Compensation for excess call and onsite shifts.
  • OB call compensation.
  • Quality incentive compensation (available starting at the 3rd anniversary).
Recruitment Package:

Our organization provides a comprehensive salary and benefits package that includes:

  • The stated salary represents the starting range of total compensation and does not encompass productivity bonuses, quality and performance incentives, extra shift incentives, and other cash compensation applicable to the role. Additionally, providers typically receive a CME allowance and other benefits from their medical group employer. This salary range is provided in compliance with state law and may vary based on the factors mentioned.

  • $4,500 annual CME expense allowance & 40 hours per year.
