Job Description
The Intermediate Care Float Pool RN role is ideal for registered nurses who thrive in dynamic settings and wish to enhance their intermediate care experience. This position involves working across two campuses of our organization (Main & Saints campus).
As part of the Float Pool, RNs will benefit from an hourly differential for floating!
Work Schedule:- 24 or 36 hours per week
- Shifts available: 8 or 12 hours from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM or 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Every third weekend required
The Community RN Career Direct Care Pathway consists of four tiers based on experience, education, and qualifications:
- Level I: Less than 12 months of RN experience.
- Level II: 12 months to less than 3 years of RN experience.
- Level III: 3 years to less than 8 years of RN experience.
- Level IV: 8 years or more of RN experience.
This role emphasizes delivering both professional and non-professional nursing care in alignment with physician directives. Responsibilities include:
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for a designated group of patients.
- Providing nursing care and performing clinical support tasks as per the patient’s care plan.
- Overseeing the design and delivery of processes and programs using specialized knowledge typically gained through advanced education.
The RN will independently deliver direct nursing care to patients and their families, adhering to established policies and practices. Key duties include:
- Engaging in performance improvement initiatives.
- Integrating evidence-based practices into clinical care.
- Conducting and documenting thorough clinical assessments.
- Creating, implementing, and evaluating individualized care plans.
- Utilizing professional judgment to tailor care plans based on patient assessments.
- Managing patient assignments by delegating tasks effectively based on team members' skills.
- Developing educational plans for patients and families, documenting as per departmental standards.
- Supporting patient and family rights, including informed decisions and advanced directives.
- Regularly reviewing and adjusting care plans according to patient health changes.
- Creating comprehensive discharge plans with appropriate referrals.
- Assisting in the onboarding of new staff members.
- Mentoring department staff to foster professional growth.
- Identifying personal learning needs and pursuing relevant education.
- Participating in departmental committees as necessary.
- Occasional lifting of 30-35 lbs and assisting with patient mobility.
- Extended periods of standing and walking.
- Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.
- Exposure to infectious diseases and potential carcinogenic substances.
- Handling blood-borne pathogens.
- Fine manual dexterity for patient handling.
- Visual and auditory acuity necessary for monitoring patient care.
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare teams.

The salary range for this position is $37.50 - $68.47.
