Neurohospitalist
Job Description
Our organization is a physician-led multi-specialty group with over 650 providers, currently in search of a full-time Board Certified/Board Eligible Neurologist. We are looking for an individual who is dedicated to a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
This position focuses on inpatient consultative services, specifically for stroke and general neurology patients, at our Time Sensitive Emergency Level 2 (Primary) Stroke Center located in Nampa. This facility is part of a comprehensive system based at our Boise campus. The Saint Alphonsus Medical Center - Nampa is a high-acuity community hospital with 106 beds, set to expand to 224 beds, and currently manages an average of 11 strokes and 30-35 DRGs monthly.
As a Neurohospitalist, you will collaborate closely with Intensivists, Hospitalists, and Emergency Physicians. The Nampa hospital is designated as a Level III Trauma Center and holds Time Sensitive Emergency classifications for Stroke, Cardiology, and Trauma. Neurologists will have access to various diagnostic and patient care services, including:
- EMG capabilities in both clinic and hospital settings
- EEG with web-based interpretation
- Transcranial Doppler (TCD)
- Botox injection services
The Saint Alphonsus Neuroscience Institute fosters teamwork among neurosurgeons, neurologists, vascular neurologists, neuroradiologists, neuropathologists, neuro-otolaryngologists, physiatrists, neuro-ophthalmologists, and oncologists, all based at the Boise campus. Boise is recognized as an ID State Comprehensive Stroke Center, while Nampa holds a Primary Stroke designation.
The work schedule for this role consists of a 5-day work week, with shifts from 7 AM to 4 PM. Stroke call will be during regular shift hours, with no weekend or night call required.
Support ServicesWe offer a well-established neurology outpatient clinic and an inpatient neurology program in Boise. Our tele-stroke services are staffed by vascular neurologists and stroke coordinators, along with interventional neuroradiology and endovascular neurosurgeon services. These include:
- Biplane angiography
- MRI/MRA
- CT/CTA
- CT perfusion
- 4-vessel angiography
- Interventional stroke and aneurysm procedures
Nampa utilizes Boise SARMC for triage and advanced services.
Requirements- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree
- Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited residency training program in Neurology
- Fellowship in Neurohospitalist Stroke, Neurovascular, or a related field is a plus
- Board certification or the ability to obtain certification within three years of employment
- Idaho medical licensure and privileges at Saint Alphonsus and affiliated hospitals as required
- Valid controlled substance registration with the Board of Pharmacy and DEA
