Job Title: Occupational Health Service Line Development Physician

The Occupational Health Service Line Development Physician serves as a key clinical leader tasked with the creation, implementation, and enhancement of occupational health initiatives within a healthcare system, clinic, or private organization. This position merges clinical knowledge with business strategies, adherence to regulations, and safety protocols to foster the physical, mental, and social health of employees.

This physician is dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, and management of work-related injuries and illnesses, while also aligning with organizational objectives such as minimizing workplace risks, enhancing productivity, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Education and Training

• Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.

Licenses and Certifications

• Board certification or eligibility in Occupational Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine.
• Preferred: Board certification in Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
• Active and unrestricted medical license in Massachusetts.

• Proficiency in clinical care as well as program development and administration.
• Exceptional diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.

• Robust organizational, analytical, and documentation skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct medical evaluations and provide treatment for work-related injuries and illnesses among hospital personnel.
• Perform pre-employment, return-to-work, and fitness-for-duty assessments.
• Design and implement occupational health programs, policies, and procedures.
• Monitor and manage employee exposure to occupational hazards, including biological, chemical, and physical risks.
• Collaborate with infection control, HR, and safety teams to mitigate workplace incidents.
• Lead vaccination and immunization initiatives for healthcare staff.
• Interpret and adhere to OSHA, CDC, and other regulatory guidelines.
• Oversee workplace health surveillance programs (e.g., TB testing, respiratory fit testing).
• Provide ergonomic guidance and workplace accommodations.
• Engage in incident investigations and recommend corrective measures.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee health records.
• Educate staff on occupational health risks and preventive measures.

Salary Range

$196,992.72 - $313,150.49
