Job Opportunity: Cardiac Advanced Practice Provider

Our organization is on the lookout for a dedicated Cardiac Advanced Practice Provider who is passionate about cardiothoracic surgery services to join our team in Boise, Idaho.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with our Cardiothoracic Surgeons in a multi-disciplinary team to provide exceptional inpatient care.
  • Assist in all cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures as a first assistant.
  • Oversee the management of the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) and the step-down unit.
About Our Program

Our Cardiothoracic Surgery program consists of:

  • Three skilled surgeons
  • Eight Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
  • Four specialized anesthesiologists in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
  • Four perfusionists

We operate on a dedicated floor featuring:

  • A 10-bed CVICU
  • Three dedicated CVORs
  • A 6-bed step-down unit

Our team is expected to perform over 350 open-heart surgeries, 175 thoracic surgeries (including 80 robotic lobectomies), as well as over 160 Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacements (TAVRs) and 75 MitraClips annually.

We focus on:

  • Adult cardiac surgery
  • Aortic surgery
  • Minimally invasive valve surgery
  • Robotic thoracic surgery
  • Hybrid Maze procedures for Atrial Fibrillation treatment

Our practice also involves the implantation and management of ECMO and the Impella 5.5. We actively participate in the STS Registry and continuously benchmark our performance as part of our commitment to quality and outcomes improvement. Our achievements include a high early extubation rate, low complication rates, and recognition through various regional and national cardiac surgery awards. We are dedicated to advancing the cardiothoracic field through innovative clinical research, program development, and educational initiatives.

Work Schedule

The initial surgical orientation may consist of five 8-hour shifts for approximately three months, transitioning to four 10-hour shifts per week, typically from 6 AM to 4 PM.

Qualifications
  • Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner medical license in Idaho, along with valid controlled substance registration.
  • Experience in vein harvesting is essential.
  • A robust medical background with a commitment to developing a practice that supports a growing multi-specialty medical group.
  • Prior Nurse Practitioner experience in managing cardiac diseases is preferred.
