Job Opportunity: Board Certified OB-GYN for Hospitalist/Laborist Position

We are currently looking for Board Certified OB-GYN professionals to join our team in a Hospitalist/Laborist capacity. This position offers exceptional support from various specialties, including Neonatology, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM), Pediatrics, and Adult Medical Services.

Our organization operates at two key locations: Sisters of Charity Hospital, which features a Level III NICU, and Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, home to a Level II NICU. Both facilities are bustling with skilled Board Certified OB-GYNs, both in employment and private practice, collectively managing over 5,000 deliveries annually. Our maternity units are equipped to provide comprehensive care for both mothers and their newborns, and we are eager to welcome providers who are passionate about serving the women of Western New York.

Key Requirements
  • Board Certified in OB-GYN
  • Must possess a current, unrestricted license to practice in New York State
  • Experience in high-risk obstetrics
  • Emergency surgical skills required
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver routine care for all obstetrical patients
  • Provide in-house obstetrical services, including emergency cesarean sections, spontaneous vaginal births, operative vaginal births, and rounding on antepartum, laboring, and postpartum patients
  • Offer backup support to obstetrical providers upon request, including VBAC coverage
  • Assist fellow attending physicians in surgical procedures as needed and perform emergency GYN procedures that arise in the Emergency Department
Labor & Delivery Environment

The Labor and Delivery unit is seamlessly integrated with postpartum care and the NICU. Communication and handoffs are efficient, fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere. All staff members, including nurses, are certified in Electronic Fetal Monitoring, and safety drills are a regular part of our culture.

Supportive Colleagues

Our team includes a variety of supportive adult and pediatric providers, such as Board Certified Neonatologists, adult specialists, Nurse Practitioners (NNPs), Physician Assistants (PAs), and Pediatricians. Maternal-Fetal Medicine coverage is readily available for consultations. Anesthesia support is robust, and critical communication across departments is streamlined through the EPIC Electronic Medical Record system.
