Job Opportunity: Family Medicine Physician - Residency Faculty

Our organization is on the lookout for a Board Certified/Board Eligible Family Medicine Physician to become a part of our Residency Faculty. While prior teaching experience is advantageous, it is not a strict requirement. The selected faculty member will engage in clinical services and oversee residents in the outpatient environment of our Academic Family Medicine Center located in Brighton, with opportunities available in inpatient and obstetric settings. The ideal candidate will possess a keen interest in leading our obstetric curriculum, particularly if they are trained in Family Medicine-Obstetrics.

Key Responsibilities

• Exhibit a strong commitment to resident education and allocate adequate time to fulfill supervisory and teaching duties.
• Serve as a model of professionalism, personal wellness, patient safety, and effective collaboration.
• Commit to delivering safe, high-quality, cost-effective, and patient-centered care.
• Provide appropriate clinical supervision to trainees, allowing for graded authority and responsibility in patient care.
• Delegate care responsibilities to residents based on patient needs and trainee skills, promoting their development in knowledge, skills, attitudes, and empathy necessary for independent medical practice.
• Maintain an educational environment that supports resident learning.
• Encourage a professional, equitable, respectful, and civil clinical learning atmosphere, free from discrimination, harassment, mistreatment, or coercion.
• Regularly engage in organized clinical discussions, rounds, journal clubs, and conferences.
• Participate in annual faculty development activities aimed at enhancing educational and mentoring skills.
• Directly observe, assess, and frequently provide constructive feedback on resident performance.
• Document evaluations of trainees at the end of each rotation or at least every three months for longitudinal experiences.
• Provide clinical care independently, as requested by the Program Director and Site Medical Director, to meet the residency program's needs.
• Report to the Program Director regarding educational and program-related matters.

Qualifications

• Faculty members must possess appropriate qualifications in their field and hold relevant institutional appointments.
• Physician faculty members should have current certification in family medicine or a relevant subspecialty from the appropriate AMBS or AOA Board.

Core Faculty Designation

• Core faculty members must be designated by the program director.
• They should play a significant role in the education and supervision of residents/fellows and dedicate a substantial portion of their efforts to education and/or administration, including teaching, evaluating, and providing formative feedback to trainees.
• Core faculty members are required to complete the annual ACGME Faculty Survey.
• They should demonstrate scholarly activity in at least one domain annually, such as:
• Research, quality improvement, or presentations/publications of case reports.
• Contributions to textbooks, online reference materials, journal review/editing, or editorial boards.
• Initiatives focused on patient safety.
• Development of program curricula, evaluation tools, educational activities, or electronic materials.
• Service on professional committees or educational organizations.
• Innovations in education, including workshops or webinars.
• Presentations during grand rounds.
• Core faculty members should actively participate in the program's Clinical Competence Committee (CCC) and Program Evaluation Committee (PEC) as assigned by the Program Director.
