This role involves collaboration within the surgical oncology department alongside fellow cancer surgeons, including those specialized in colorectal, breast, gynecologic, and advanced foregut minimally invasive surgeries.

This dynamic practice offers a blend of approximately 50-75% surgical oncology and 25-50% complex benign general surgery cases. The focus will be on minimally invasive techniques, robotics, and advanced therapeutic endoscopy, utilizing a range of cutting-edge surgical equipment and methodologies, including robotic, endoscopic, and advanced laparoscopic procedures.

The surgical oncology department is integrated into the organization’s accredited oncology program, fostering strong relationships with medical and radiation oncology teams. Our facility, a Level II Trauma Center with 387 beds, features a state-of-the-art digital infrastructure and innovative technologies, including advanced imaging capabilities and award-winning clinical services.

Position Details

This full-time Surgical Oncology/Hepato-biliary role operates on a traditional workweek, Monday through Friday, with a minimum of 32 hours dedicated to patient contact, encompassing clinic visits, procedures, and consultations. The call schedule is set at 1:6, with no unattached emergency room calls or acute care general surgery responsibilities.

• Comprehensive services including Wound & Hyperbaric Care, SICU, Medical ICU, CVICU, NICU, Hospitalist, Diabetes, Inpatient Pain Management, and Palliative Care.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree.
• Completion of an accredited ACGME/AOA general surgery residency program.
• Board certification from the American Board of Surgery (ABS) or the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery (AOBS), or the ability to obtain certification within three years of employment.
• Completion of a Surgical Oncology or Hepato-Biliary fellowship.
• Experience with open, minimally invasive, and robotic surgical techniques for treating hepatobiliary, pancreatic, esophageal, gastric, adrenal, and colorectal cancers.
• Ability to perform both basic and complex advanced general surgical procedures.
• A collaborative leadership style to work effectively with the oncology and surgical programs, ensuring compliance with the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
• Eligibility for Idaho medical licensure and privileges at SARMC and other affiliated hospitals, along with valid controlled substance registration with the Board of Pharmacy and DEA.
