Position OverviewWe are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialist to join our vibrant, multidisciplinary Obstetrics team. The ideal candidate will focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care for complex and high-risk pregnancies while contributing to clinical excellence, education, and system-wide quality improvement initiatives. This position allows for collaboration with various teams, including general obstetrics, midwifery, neonatology, anesthesiology, social work, and care coordination, all aimed at enhancing perinatal outcomes and promoting maternal health equity.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive consultations for high-risk pregnancies, addressing both maternal and fetal complications.
- Perform and interpret advanced obstetric ultrasounds, fetal echocardiography (if applicable), Doppler studies, and prenatal diagnostic procedures.
- Assess fetal health through NSTs and BPPs as necessary.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and other specialists to optimize outcomes for mothers and infants.
- Provide labor and delivery coverage for complex cases as required.
- Conduct ultrasounds during the first, second, and third trimesters.
- Perform amniocentesis and CVS (if applicable).
- Manage conditions such as hypertensive disorders, diabetes, multiple gestations, placenta accreta spectrum, and preterm birth prevention.
- Supervise and educate residents, fellows (if applicable), medical students, and sonographers.
- Contribute to curriculum development, simulation training, and quality improvement initiatives in Obstetrics and High-Risk Obstetrics.
- Your primary work location will be at NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan.
- Provide remote telephone consultations for MFM during nights and weekends for shared service facilities.
- Offer remote coverage as needed for other NYC Health + Hospitals facilities outside the main region.
- Deliver clinical coverage for other hospitals in the Manhattan area as required.
- Be available for emergency coverage for other NYC Health + Hospitals facilities as needed.
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
- Board Certified in General Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Maternal Fetal Medicine.
- Eligible for medical licensure in New York.
- Proven commitment to high-quality clinical care, teamwork, and advancing maternal health equity.
The annual base salary for this position is:
- $485,400* for board eligible candidates
- $495,400* for board certified candidates
This is based on a 40-hour work week, including 17 weeks of required night/weekend call and additional coverage. Any extra night/weekend call beyond the required 17 weeks will be compensated at a rate of $25 per hour.
The estimated total annual compensation package is:
- $630,600** for board eligible candidates
- $640,600** for board certified candidates
This includes the base salary, 401(k) contributions, sessional/per diem hours, and other factors outlined below:
- Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours worked per week is $70,200.
- Potential bonuses of up to $40,000 based on quality and productivity targets from the previous year.
- 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS limits): Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings, with no employee match required. After one year of service, an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings is provided, also with no employee match required.
