Teacher of Visually Impaired in Redwood City, CA

Key Qualifications:

• Current California Education Specialist Instruction Credential with Visual Impairments authorization, or a California teaching credential with authorization to teach visually handicapped students (EL CLAD)
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive curriculum development
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and educational staff
• Commitment to on-campus service (no virtual or hybrid assignments)

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
• Provide direct instruction in Braille, low vision devices, assistive technology, and compensatory skills
• Modify classroom materials and design adapted content to ensure accessibility
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver accommodations and support in general education settings
• Serve as a resource for colleagues, offering guidance on best practices for supporting visually impaired learners
• Regularly assess student progress and adjust interventions as necessary

This contract position runs from August 13 to June 11, with a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week.
