Key Qualifications:
- Current California Education Specialist Instruction Credential with Visual Impairments authorization, or a California teaching credential with authorization to teach visually handicapped students (EL CLAD)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive curriculum development
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and educational staff
- Commitment to on-campus service (no virtual or hybrid assignments)
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Provide direct instruction in Braille, low vision devices, assistive technology, and compensatory skills
- Modify classroom materials and design adapted content to ensure accessibility
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver accommodations and support in general education settings
- Serve as a resource for colleagues, offering guidance on best practices for supporting visually impaired learners
- Regularly assess student progress and adjust interventions as necessary
This contract position runs from August 13 to June 11, with a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week.
