Job Description
Make a positive impact supporting students in a school setting as a contract Sign Language Interpreter. The assignment runs from August 19, 2026, through early June 2027, with potential flexibility on the exact end date. You’ll work collaboratively with educators and staff, making a direct difference in the lives of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other signing methods as required by student's IEPs
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter, or eligibility to obtain required state credentials
- Previous experience interpreting in educational settings strongly preferred
- Understanding of confidentiality and ethical guidelines for interpreters in schools
- Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills
- Adaptability and commitment to fostering inclusive learning experiences
Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services during classroom instruction, school events, meetings, and other activities
- Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and staff
- Assist in educational and social environments to promote student participation and engagement
- Support the implementation of students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Maintain accurate records of services provided and adhere to school policies
- Collaborate with special education staff, teachers, and families as needed
