As a CSN or CSN student, you'll take charge of the health office, conduct thorough medical reviews, and serve as an active participant in IEP and 504 meetings. These integrated responsibilities are key to providing comprehensive support for students’ health and educational needs.

Key Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with Professional Educator License (PEL) endorsement for Certified School Nurse (CSN)—more than just an RN license required
  • Completion or current enrollment in CSN coursework (can take 1–2 years)
  • Previous CSN practice is highly sought after
  • Bilingual abilities in Spanish are a strong plus
  • Demonstrated flexibility, dependability, and a collaborative mindset are crucial
  • Proven record of excellent attendance and reliability

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage school health office operations
  • Oversee daily student care, triage, and acute illness/injury management
  • Conduct detailed medical histories and reviews
  • Participate actively in IEP and 504 planning processes
  • Work closely with administration and staff to support student health plans
