Job Description
Make an impact supporting students by stepping into a contract Special Education teaching role for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. Passionate educators are needed to work onsite in a collaborative environment that welcomes innovation and values strong behavior management skills. This opportunity involves seven positions across a vibrant district, focusing on both middle school resource settings and center-based programs supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD), and Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD).
Candidates will engage with students requiring specialized behavioral support and help create structured, effective classroom routines. Work closely with both special and general education colleagues, as well as paraprofessionals, to ensure students of diverse needs reach their highest potential.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Minnesota Teaching Credential, with one or more of the following:
- Special Education: Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Special Education: Developmental Disabilities
- Special Education: Early Childhood
- Special Education: Emotional Behavioral Disorders
- Special Education: Learning Disabilities
- Academic & Behavioral Strategist License (optional, but allows service across multiple disability areas)
- Demonstrated skill in implementing behavior strategies and individual behavior plans
- Solid instructional abilities for a range of learners
- Effective collaboration with educators and paraprofessionals
- Strong record of attendance and professional reliability
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction and behavioral support for students in ASD, EBD, DCD, and resource programs
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior plans
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to adapt teaching strategies
- Schedule and coordinate with paraprofessional staff
