Make a difference for students by providing vital support as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a full-time contract opportunity! This role is an itinerant position, splitting your expertise between a middle school and two elementary schools, helping young learners achieve their fullest potential through high-quality, accessible instruction.

You’ll collaborate closely with school staff and families, ensuring students receive the individualized attention and accommodations they need to thrive in the classroom and beyond. What We're Looking For:

  • Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement (required)
  • Experience working as a DHHT in K-8 educational settings preferred
  • Knowledge of current best practices in deaf education and accessible instructional strategies
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive educational environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students according to IEP goals
  • Travel between assigned school sites to provide direct and consultative services
  • Work collaboratively with general education staff, related service providers, and families
  • Adapt curriculum materials and classroom activities to ensure accessibility
  • Support the development of student advocacy and self-advocacy skills
  • Maintain required documentation and progress reports in accordance with school and legal guidelines
