Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Sunnyvale, California

This contract position, situated near Sunnyvale, CA, spans the academic year from August 13th through June 11th. The role is strictly onsite, with a commitment to 37.5 hours per week.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential with authorization for Visual Impairments, or a California teaching credential permitting instruction for visually handicapped students (EL CLAD)
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Experience working with visually impaired students in K-12 settings strongly preferred
• Collaborative approach to working alongside educational teams, support staff, and families
• Flexibility and professional dedication to meet diverse needs

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and adapt instructional materials to meet individual student needs in accordance with IEP goals
• Conduct assessments, monitor progress, and provide specialized instruction on Braille literacy, assistive technology, orientation and mobility, and activities of daily living
• Consult with classroom teachers to adapt curricula and ensure full access to learning
• Advocate for student inclusion and collaborate in the development of programs supporting accessible learning environments
• Maintain thorough documentation and participate in IEP meetings as required
• Offer guidance and resources to students, families, and staff to build understanding and self-advocacy
