Step into a rewarding role supporting students with visual impairments in an educational setting near Fremont, CA. This is a full-time, onsite contract opportunity dedicated to empowering students and collaborating closely with families and school staff. Your specialized skills will make a genuine difference throughout the academic year, from August 13 to June 11.

What we’re looking for:

• Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential authorizing service for students with Visual Impairments, or a California teaching credential that includes authorization for visually handicapped students (EL CLAD).
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of instructional techniques and assistive technologies for students with vision loss.
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, families, and support staff.
• Passion for ensuring accessibility and equity in learning opportunities.
• Previous experience supporting K-12 students with visual impairments preferred.

In this role, you will:

• Assess students' needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) to help them succeed academically and socially.
• Adapt curriculum and instructional materials into accessible formats (Braille, large print, audio, or tactile).
• Provide direct instruction in areas such as orientation and mobility, use of assistive technology, and daily living skills.
• Serve as a resource and consultant for general education staff regarding adaptations and classroom modifications.
• Track student progress and document outcomes.
• Participate in IEP and multidisciplinary team meetings as a key advocate for visually impaired students.

This position is fully onsite (no virtual or hybrid options) and runs 37.5 hours per week, giving you the chance to develop meaningful relationships and continuity with students and staff.
