Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students by providing specialized instruction as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired for a dynamic school setting. This contract position offers the chance to work across several sites within the region, fostering meaningful academic growth and learning outcomes for students from August 3 to May 21. There may be some flexibility to provide services virtually, depending on the needs.

Your expertise will make a profound difference in the educational journey of visually impaired students in grades K-12. As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll develop individualized and adaptive learning plans, work alongside other educators, and serve as an invaluable resource to families and staff.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Current Standard Arizona Secondary Teaching License
  • Specialized Visually Impaired Special Education, K-12 Certificate or Endorsement
  • Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring visually impaired curricula
  • Ability to support multiple locations as needed
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Openness to both onsite and potential virtual instruction

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement tailored instructional programs for visually impaired students
  • Assess and document student progress, adapting materials and methods as necessary
  • Consult with teachers, administrators, and families to promote accessibility and student success
  • Provide orientation and mobility support as part of the educational plan
  • Create accessible educational materials and collaborate to support inclusion
