Teacher of Visually Impaired in Des Plaines, IL

Key Qualifications:

• Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) endorsement
• Experience working with students who are visually impaired across a broad age range
• Strong communication skills and flexibility for an itinerant schedule
• Ability to create and adapt individualized instructional materials for varying needs
• Dedication to inclusive, student-centered teaching

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction to visually impaired students in both elementary and middle school settings
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to foster student growth and independence
• Develop and implement IEP goals tailored to each student’s visual and learning needs
• Travel between sites within the district as part of the itinerant assignment
• Conduct functional vision assessments and make recommendations for accessible materials and assistive technology
