Job Description
Make a meaningful difference providing specialized educational support to preschool-aged children in community settings! An experienced Special Education Teacher is sought to work as an itinerant instructor, collaborating directly with families and staff across various community preschools. In this contract role, you will engage with approximately 30 young learners, each with distinct needs, delivering high-quality services and tailored interventions that set the foundation for continued academic and social success.
Key qualifications:
- Valid Pennsylvania certification in PK-4 and/or Special Education (emergency permits not accepted)
- Demonstrated experience providing individualized instruction to children with special needs
- Strong collaboration skills for working with preschool teams and families
- Ability to travel to multiple locations within the area and manage an itinerant schedule
- Excellent communication, organization, and documentation abilities
Core responsibilities:
- Serve as an itinerant Special Education Teacher supporting a caseload of approximately 30 preschool students in community preschools
- Assess student needs, plan and implement individualized education program (IEP) goals, and track measurable progress
- Consult and collaborate with families, teachers, and related service providers to ensure a supportive learning environment
- Adapt strategies and resources to a variety of preschool classroom settings
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide ongoing documentation
Your work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, totaling 35 hours each week. Comprehensive guidance and training will be provided at the outset to support your transition into this vital role.
