School Occupational Therapist - Oakland, California
Job Description
Make a meaningful impact by supporting students and staff as a dedicated school-based Occupational Therapist in a full-time, contract role spanning August through the end of December. This opportunity is located near Oakland, CA, where you'll collaborate closely with educators and other professionals to facilitate student success and independence within the educational environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)
- Previous experience in a school setting strongly preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt practices to meet the diverse needs of elementary, middle, or high school students
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to identify students' needs and abilities
- Develop and implement individualized intervention plans in line with IEP goals
- Provide direct therapy services to students, both individually and in groups
- Support teachers and staff with strategies to integrate occupational therapy recommendations in the classroom
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation of evaluations, services provided, and student progress
- Communicate regularly with families, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams
- Contribute to staff training and participate in ongoing professional development
