Step into a dynamic contract opportunity providing essential occupational therapy services within an engaging elementary school environment. This full-time, long-term substitute role spans September 9th to November 30th, making a meaningful difference in young learners' educational journeys.

You'll divide your time between two schools: Spend 40% of your role at an elementary campus with a specialized center-based autism classroom, focusing on supervision for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). The remaining 60% will be dedicated to delivering comprehensive OT services to students at a nearby elementary school, impacting the well-being and development of a diverse student population.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current Occupational Therapist (OT) licensure in Minnesota
  • Prior experience in school-based occupational therapy preferred
  • Comfort supervising and supporting COTAs, particularly in specialized classroom settings
  • Ability to adapt interventions to meet the unique needs of students with varying disabilities, including autism
  • Strong interpersonal and organization skills for effective collaboration with educators, families, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Dedication to fostering student independence and participation through evidence-based OT practices
  • Familiarity with IEP documentation and compliance is an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Provide skilled OT interventions and assessments to students, promoting functional skills within the educational environment
  • Supervise and mentor a COTA, offering guidance and support in a center-based autism classroom
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and document student progress
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, staff, and families to integrate OT strategies into daily routines
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary planning
  • Advocate for students’ needs and assist with smooth transitions throughout the school day
