Job Description
Step into a rewarding role making a difference in students’ lives as a contract-based occupational therapist for the upcoming school year. This full-time opportunity spans from September 9th to November 30th, allowing you to bring your expertise to two supportive elementary school communities.
As a long-term substitute, your week will be split between engaging environments:
- At one school, you’ll dedicate .4 of your time to a center-based autism classroom, primarily supervising a talented COTA and ensuring high-quality OT support tailored to student needs.
- The remaining .6 will be spent delivering comprehensive occupational therapy services to another elementary school, where you’ll assess, plan, and implement therapy for a diverse student body.

Ideal Experience & Qualifications:
- Current Occupational Therapist license (OTR) in Minnesota
- Previous experience in a school-based OT setting is valued
- Knowledge of best practices for serving students with autism and other disabilities
- Strong supervisory skills and experience working with COTAs
- Ability to manage time effectively while traveling between sites
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative OT services as specified in IEPs
- Supervise and support a COTA within an autism-focused classroom
- Conduct student evaluations, participate in team meetings, and document progress
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to promote student independence and participation
