Two contract opportunities are available for dedicated SPED teachers to work onsite from August 4, 2026, to May 26, 2027, offering the chance to help students thrive in an inclusive and self-contained setting.
Openings include one Inclusion teaching role at an elementary school and two Self-Contained classroom roles at an intermediate campus. You’ll join a collaborative, student-centered team that values individualized learning, innovation, and empathy.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Alabama SPED licensure (to verify, visit: https://tcert.alsde.edu/Portal/Public/Pages/SearchCerts.aspx)
- For the inclusion position: K-6 SPED Certification required
- For self-contained and inclusion needs: 6-12 SPED Certification accepted
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse learning needs in educational settings
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Passion for fostering a positive, encouraging educational atmosphere
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to students in either an inclusion or self-contained environment
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to develop and implement IEPs
- Create a safe, welcoming classroom that supports a range of educational and behavioral needs
- Assess and document student progress, providing clear feedback to families and team members
- Participate in ongoing professional development and school meetings
