VIP Staffing is Now Hiring: System Protection Engineer (I–IV or Principal)
Texas City, TX
$110K–$160K DOE

Work on relay settings, system studies, NERC/CIP compliance, and high-voltage equipment up to 345kV. Great role for engineers who love solving complex protection challenges and want real impact on grid reliability.

You’ll do:
  • Perform short circuit, overcurrent, and distance coordination studies using ASPEN Oneliner
  • Develop and modify protective relay settings to maintain system reliability
  • Analyze system disturbances and recommend mitigation plans in compliance with NERC PRC-004
  • Serve as SME for assigned NERC and/or CIP compliance standards
  • Review relaying one-lines, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and relay design deliverables
  • Ensure adherence to company standards and NERC/CIP requirements
  • Provide technical support to field personnel
  • Train and mentor less experienced staff
  • Participate in peer reviews
  • Communicate engineering recommendations to internal and external stakeholders
  • Represent the company in advanced engineering matters
  • Apply engineering expertise to improve or develop new standards
  • Provide technical direction to contractors and internal teams
  • Perform all work safely and efficient
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution required.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and technical documents
  • Ability to write reports, correspondence, and deliver presentations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, and leadership
  • Proficiency with electrical engineering design software
  • Strong skills in word processing, databases, and spreadsheets
  • Ability to follow complex written, oral, or diagram instructions
  • Ability to solve multifaceted problems involving multiple variables
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree or focus in Power Systems Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Valid driver’s license meeting company driving requirements
