Job Description
An excellent opportunity is open for experienced paraprofessionals ready to make an impact supporting students with multiple disabilities for the 2026-2027 school year. These contract roles are based at a specialized learning achievement program near Orefield, with a strong focus on providing students with the individualized academic, behavioral, and daily living support they need to thrive.
As a paraprofessional in this setting, you’ll draw on your experience in special education to assist students with significant needs—carrying out personal care (diapering, toileting, hygiene, feeding), offering mobility assistance, supporting communication, and managing classroom routines and transitions. Flexibility and resilience are essential, as you’ll also help students through challenging behaviors including hitting, biting, spitting, screaming, and elopement attempts, working closely with teaching staff and following established safety procedures.
Qualifications & Experience:
- At least 1 year of paraprofessional or instructional assistant experience (preferred in special education)
- Meets one of the PA paraprofessional requirements: 48 college credits, an associate degree, or a state-approved assessment
- If not currently qualified, willingness to complete certification within 60 days of hire
- Ability to lift, assist with mobility, and provide hands-on care
- Calm, patient demeanor under stress; excellent behavior management and communication skills
- Reliable transportation within a 35-minute commute of Orefield location
- Commitment to punctuality and full-time availability during school hours
Role Attributes:
- Full academic year assignment, tentative dates: August 10, 2026 – June 11, 2027 (aligned with school calendar)
- Approximately 32.5 hours/week; regular school hours following initial summer academy
