Step into a meaningful opportunity supporting students’ access to education as a contract Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming academic year. This full-time role offers the chance to work directly with elementary-aged learners, empowering them to communicate effectively and thrive in their school environment.

Enjoy a dynamic schedule, with assignments that primarily focus on 1:1 interpretation. While interpreters are generally assigned to specific students, you may have the chance to offer coverage in other locations as needed. Most communication will revolve around Visaphonics, although this is not a requirement for the position.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III is required
  • Strong preference for an EIPA score of 3.5 or higher; candidates with an EIPA above 3.0 or QAS Score of 3+ will be considered
  • Experience interpreting in an educational setting preferred, especially at the elementary level
  • Solid ASL proficiency and strong communication skills
  • Flexibility for assignments across multiple campuses if students are absent
  • Ability to adapt to varied learning needs and provide clear, empathetic interpretation

Position Highlights:

  • Full-time, Monday–Friday, 35 hours per week
  • School year schedule: August 25, 2026 – June 15, 2027
