Accounts Payable Lead

Overview: Insight Global is seeking an Accounts Payable Lead to oversee the daily operations of the Accounts Payable function within a large, complex organization. This individual will be responsible for leading and developing two AP Clerks, standardizing AP processes, and serving as the subject matter expert for the full procure-to-pay lifecycle. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership skills with deep accounts payable knowledge and can establish structure, consistency, and best practices across the team.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach, and oversee a team of 2 Accounts Payable Clerks
• Establish and implement standardized AP workflows, SOPs, and best practices
• Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries and escalations
• Oversee vendor setup, maintenance, and compliance processes
• Manage check runs and payment processing activities
• Review AP operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls
• Identify process improvement opportunities and drive operational consistency across the team
• Partner with accounting and finance leadership on AP-related initiatives
• Monitor AP metrics, aging, and vendor relationships to ensure timely payments
• Utilize Excel and ERP systems to analyze AP data and support reporting needs

Must‐Haves:

• 5+ years of Accounts Payable experience
• Leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience
• Thorough understanding of the full AP lifecycle, including vendor maintenance, payments, and controls
• Experience creating and documenting SOPs, policies, and workflows
• Strong Excel skills
• Experience overseeing AP staff and driving process improvements
• Strong vendor management and communication skills
• Lawson ERP experience
